Whenever I visit St. Peter’s, I make sure to visit the GOAT. Fun fact, the giant piece of artwork above the altar is a mosaic, not a painting.
One of my favorite angels of the basilica. The mosaic of St. Mark (with the eagle) is so incredibly massive the pen pen is over 8ft tall! It’s crazy to think all of this was done by hand at such a large scale!
Here is Bernini’s Baldacchino. It is undergoing it’s first restoration ever, hence the scaffolding at the base.
